A fantastic addition to any classroom, the V.C.O.P. Pyramid offers all the key elements of 'Big Writing' in a user friendly, 3D layout. The pyramid consists of:

• The Punctuation Pyramid
• Ambitious Vocabulary
• Sentence Openers
• Connectives.

The examples given are of the degree of challenge that should be seen in the punctuation, words and phrases that children from the relevant attainment level should be able to use. These levels are vital to the 'Big Writing' method and for raising standards in writing.

The pyramid can be used as a focus for up-levelling by drawing pupils' attention to areas of their writing that can be improved and asking them to pick out ideas to add to their work. The larger pyramids can be used at the front of the classroom with a smaller pyramid on each table. They can be used before any writing session to remind the pupils what they should be aiming for. Equally, the larger pyramids are ideal as a central focus for small group discussion with young children seated round it on the carpet or with it in the centre of a large table for older children.

The A0 pyramid is manufactured as a single piece of durable cardboard and can be easily assembled by folding the edge of each side until the two outside edges meet. It is then glued to create a free-standing pyramid. The inverted VCOP pyramid is a new classroom aid allowing the teacher to display the pyramid in a variety of ways including suspension from a suitable location. The A3 pyramid is manufactured as four individual pieces of durable cardboard and can be easily assembled by glueing the special tabs on each side of the pyramid together. Once set, a stable free-standing pyramid is created.
