In March 2004, Ros Wilson was invited to West Dunbartonshire Council as an external training provider as part of the Improving Standards in Writing initiative. The West Dunbartonshire Council Writing Focus Group, together with several teachers working in WDC schools has developed this Teacher Resource Pack to further support staff as they embrace the new approach to teaching and formatively assessing writing.

The purpose of this guide is to provide support for managers and classroom teachers in adopting the Ros Wilson methodology and using the Criterion Scale. This resource aims to enhance attempts to encourage a consistency of approach to the teaching and assessment of writing in any establishment.
