'Write on Target', by Ros Wilson, builds on the previous publications, 'Raising Standards in Writing', (2002) and 'Strategies for Immediate Impact on Writing Standards', (2003).

Objectives

To provide an overview of the long-term strategy and the quick impact methods for teaching, (this may be bypassed by those already confidently teaching through 'Big Writing' or used as a self-evaluation tool to verify that all the recommended elements are in place)
To advise and support the target setting process
To provide a definition of and model for use of Assessment for Learning in all subjects in all classrooms
To examine issues around the underachievement of many boys and some girls in writing
To provide two models for quick intervention
To provide further evidence and case studies
To provide further teaching activities
To provide a Criterion Scale model for use within the Scottish levels for writing
