Schools are reporting that the teaching of Big Writing is having a positive Impact on reading comprehension scores and the answering of question in the full range of National Curriculum test papers.

Jane Troth, the Head teacher of Graveney Primary School in Kent was delighted to find her pupils could now give extended answers where previously they were often limited to simple words or phrases, (see ‘Write on Target’ 2006).

Pupils also understand how language works better through use of the Opener and Connective fans, and consequently inferential skills improve remarkably.
