Upperby Primary School in Cumbria

I went on the Ros Wilson Day one course about 7 weeks prior to the 2007 KS2 SATS tests. Having attended the course on the Thursday, I made everything I needed over the weekend and started full blast with the immediate impact lessons on the Monday. I had at the time a class of Year 6 who were predicted to achieve one of our lowest set of literacy results ever, (it could very easily have been a set of results around if not lower than 50% above level 4 mark). However, over the following 7 weeks, miracles happened and that year we achieved 81% above level 4; which was at the time our best ever set of results. We have since exceeded our record with this years results which were 86% above level 4 (38.9% of which were level 5). To achieve this many children's writing went up by 4,5,6 and even in one case 7 sub levels over the year! This is totally down to the introduction of VCOP and 'Big Writing' strategies!
